Schneider Electric Altivar Process ATV650

Frequency converters or variable speed drives are devices designed to convert alternating current (voltage) of one frequency into alternating current (voltage) of another frequency. The output frequency in modern converters can vary over a wide range and be either higher or lower than the main frequency.

The circuit of any frequency converter consists of power and control parts. The power part is usually made on thyristors or transistors that operate in the electronic switch mode. The control part is executed on digital microprocessors and provides control of power electronic keys, as well as solving a large number of auxiliary tasks (control, diagnostics, protection).

The Altivar Process ATV650 is a variable speed drive from Schneider. Protection class IP 55 provides insulation against atmospheric factors and protection against the ingress of dust and water jets. The Schneider Electric Altivar Process ATV650 is wall-mounted and does not require enclosure installation. The ATV650 provides control of three-phase asynchronous and synchronous motors from 0.37 - 15 kW, 3x380V, in water supply processes, and in other industrial processes requiring advanced capabilities and special functions.

The Schneider ATV 650 variable speed drive provides a special motor overvoltage limiting algorithm that reduces the amplitude of the pulses and allows the length of the connecting line to be extended. Simplified, this algorithm implements minor, random deviations in the PWM clock frequency of power switches within a fixed switching frequency.

A motor choke is recommended for power cable lengths (standard capacitance, unshielded) longer than 150 meters. If the length of the unshielded connecting cable is between 100-300 meters, no dU/dt filter is required if the motor complies with MEK (IEK) 600034-25.

IP55 Altivar Process ATV650 variable speed drives are designed to control three-phase asynchronous and synchronous motors used in process plants in industries such as:

  2. ATV650 IP54 floor standing - 110-315kW/150-500kW 3x380-480V.
