The Siemens 7ME3951-0TG20 wall thickness gauge is used to determine the wall thickness of pipes, on which surface-mounted ultrasonic flow meters are installed. Determining the wall thickness is an important parameter in the flow calculation model.
When measuring pipe wall thickness, the thickness gauge can be used as a separate instrument.
The thickness gauge is based on the transit time of ultrasound through the material. A high frequency beam is transmitted through the tube. The probe, acting as the sender and receiver of the ultrasound, calculates the transit time of the signals. This value is used to determine the wall thickness.
