Siemens Simatic Connection is a ranges of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) that can be used to solve a wide range of automation tasks. The compact design, low cost and mighty instruction installed make the S7-1200 highly suitable for a variety of control applications. Various S7-1200 models and Windows-based programming tools give you the flexibility you need to meet your automation needs. This manual contains information about installing and programming the S7-1200 PLC and is intended for engineers, programmers and service personnel with a general knowledge of programmable logic controllers.
The programmable logic regulator ensures the versatility and capacity to check a large range of arrangements to backing your automation needs. Dense design, supple set and heavy command set make the S7-1200 an excellent solution for controlling a wide range of supplements.
The CPU combines a microprocessor, an combined capacity bring, input and output schemes in a compact package to form a powerful PLC. Once your program is loaded, the CPU contains the logic needed to control and manage the devices in your application. The CPU controls the inputs and changes the outlets according to the logic of your user instruction, which can involve boolean logic operations, counting, timing, complex mathematical operations and communication with other smart devices.
A number of protection peculiarities aid protect access to both the CPU and the inspection project:
- Each CPU procures parole safety that allows you to customize access to the CPU according to your needs.
- You can use "know-how protection" to hide code inside a particular block.
The use of SIMATIC TOP Connect connectors provides convenient connection of sensors and actuators to SIMATIC S7-400 programmable regulator mods, minimizes installation errors, reduces costs and time of installation of control cabinets, and increases the convenience of their operation and maintenance. SIMATIC TOP Connect ensures safe electric communications, widely uses pre-cut cables, reduces the time for connecting individual cable cores to the contacts of modules and terminal blocks.
The SIMATIC TOP Connect modular connector includes: special front joint, binding rope, terminal blocks. Connecting the connecting cable to the front connector and the terminal block is done through special connectors.
Connecting cables
Ribbon connecting cables are used to connect the SIMATIC TOP Connect front connectors to the terminal blocks. A 1x16 core (plain or shielded) or 2x16 core (plain) ribbon cable is used for this purpose with one or two flat jumpers at each end. The band rope is placed in a protective sheath that increases the resistance of the cable to external influences. The design of the flat connector allows you to adjust the length of the connecting rope. The isolation piercing scheme is used to connect the strands of the ribbon cable to the pins of the flat connector. The maximum length of the connecting cable can be up to 60 m.
SIMATIC TOP Connect terminal blocks
The terminal blocks are equipped with a connector for connecting the SIMATIC TOP Connect ribbon cable and a set of terminals for connecting external circuits of the controller (circuits of sensors and drives). Every terminal pulley allows connection of up to 8 signal circuits. Depending on the modification, the terminal blocks may have screw-type or spring-loaded latching contacts. All terminal units are mounted on a norm 35 mm DIN rail. SIMATIC TOP Connect modular connectors can use several types of terminal blocks.
Front connectors
The front connector mounts to the digital or analog controller module in place of the standard front connector. Each front connector is equipped with two or four connectors for connecting a ribbon cable, as well as two or four terminal blocks for connecting power circuits. SIMATIC TOP Connect can use 3 types of front connectors:
- for input-output mods of separate calls;
- for discrete signal output mods with output current load up to 2A;
- for analog I/O modules.
