SINAUT ST7 is a deleted check scheme based on SIMATIC S7 (S7 300, S7 400, C7 and SIMATIC PCS 7). It is used for monitoring and control systems of widely separated stations that communicate with each other or with one or more central locations via WANs (Geographical Networks).

Universal telemetry scheme based on SIMATIC S7-300, S7-400 and WinCC for totally automatic monitoring and inspection of operation terminals that communicate with one or more check cores across WAN or Ethernet (TCP/IP).

The SINAUT stations detect the change in process parameters and transfer the data across the WAN to the SINAUT ST7sc. SINAUT ST7sc decodes accepted messages, converts them into WinCC variables and saves these variables. OPC clients are able to access stored data through the OPC interface. Info entrance can be executed synchronously or asynchronously (recommended) when the values of variables change.
In turn, OPC clients are able to write data to WinCC variables (commands, parameters, etc.). This data is converted by the SIMATIC ST7sc into the SINAUT data format and transferred to the respective SINAUT ST7/ST1 exchanges.

Clock synchronization in telemetry stations can be carried out using the optional module for receiving radio signals of exact time DCF77 or the GPS mod (Global Positioning System). SINAUT ST7 points carry out telemetry information dating and automatic program start scheduling in a standard way.
The TIM communication mod spent in the SINAUT ST7 has 1MB of RAM to avert info loss in case of communication interruptions and station failures. When using dial-up channels (for example, telephone lines or GSM communication), different priority levels can be assigned to telemetry information. High priority data is sent immediately, while low priority information is stored in a buffer and sent during the next communication session.
For local communication, SIMATIC NET local area nets (PROFIBUS and Industrial Ethernet) can be used. SIMATIC HMI systems can be used for monitoring and operational control in distributed configurations.

One of the most important features of Siemens SINAUT systems is the support of a protection mechanism that excludes the possibility of loss of transmitted data. For example, if the connection between the SINAUT station and the SINAUT ST7sc is interrupted, the data is collected at the station level and provided with date and time stamps. This makes it possible to accumulate data for several hours or several days until the connection is restored. After the connection is restored, the SINAUT ST7sc starts a special procedure “ItemBuffer” to transfer the accumulated data from the SINAUT stations to the OPC clients.

The same procedure is used in the following cases:

  • when the content of the process display area changes faster than the OPC client is able to read this data;
  • when the SINAUT station remains unavailable for some time or there is a failure in the communication system.

Application areas of telemetry systems:

  • oil conduits;
  • gas pipelines;
  • plumbing;
  • remote power distribution substations.

Data exchange between individual devices can be organized using:

  • leased lines - own or leased; brass rope or thread optical;
  • personal radio nets;
  • analog telephone lines;
  • numerical ISDN nets;
  • GSM networks (900 MHz).

SIMATIC stations can be connected to several networks for the purpose of duplicating communication lines, for example, a leased line and a redundant radio link.

Network configuration examples:

  • mark to mark
  • Star
  • Line
  • Combination of dot to dot and line, knot, star
  • Dial-up network
  • Radio net
  • Mobile phone network
