Burkert SV02
Diaphragms
Diafragms for hygienic and sterile requirements
- Overview +
- Comments +
Burkert SV02 diaphragms are designed to meet the unique requirements of sterility and hygiene. They have a precise composition of materials and high strength.
All devices have passed numerous tests and can be successfully used for use in the food and beverage industry, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, and biotechnology.
Burkert diaphragms guarantee reliability in difficult process conditions.
The main membrane types of SV02 depending on material:
EPDM (AD)
Ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber is a synthetic rubber with a wide range of applications.
EPDM copes very easily with both cold and hot water, weak acids and alkaline media. This means that diaphragms made from this material are particularly well suited for hygienic processing applications where steam sterilization and oxidizing environments are required.
FKM(FF)
FKM is a type of fluoroelastomer. They are highly resistant to many solvents and other chemicals. For example, they provide excellent resistance to aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic and chlorinated chemicals, as well as good resistance to acids, alkalis and oxidizing agents.
PTFE (EA)
Polytetrafluoroethylene is a synthetic fluoropolymer consisting of tetrafluoroethylene, the outstanding properties of which have allowed it to find a very wide range of applications.
PTFE is very well suited for use in hygienic applications due to its extraordinary thermal and chemical resistance, as well as its good compatibility with water, as well as alkalis and concentrated acids.
PTFE cannot be cross-linked and therefore has no “memory” - in other words, unlike elastomer, it does not return to its original shape after deformation.
Advanced PTFE (EU)
Like typical PTFE, enhanced PTFE is composed of carbon and fluorine. However, in addition to the properties of conventional PTFE, it has a number of additional and important properties. It deforms significantly less, even at higher loads, and is less susceptible to high temperatures and temperature fluctuations than conventional PTFE. The denser polymer structure also improves the quality of the process, which reduces the degree of penetration through the diaphragm.
Gilon®(ER)
GYLON® is a new type of diaphragm material that is considered a third generation of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Thanks to its excellent properties, GYLON® currently covers the widest range of applications.
Downtime can be very frustrating, especially in the pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries. Therefore, diaphragms used in sterilization cycles must withstand high chemical concentrations, temperatures, flow rates and pressures.
Compared to conventional PTFE products, GYLON® retains its shape even under loads up to four times its flexural strength.
