The absolute encoder allows an unusual numerical code for each shaft angular position. It stores the meaning of the current position. This prevents loss of data in the case of a power loss or system restart. Optical encoders operate on a power-saving system that is based on the Wiegand effect. No power or battery is needed in the system design.
