RFID IO-Link is a wireless identification system used to transfer data between RFID tags and RFID readers.

IFM's RFID IO-Link system consists of the following components:

RFID tags: RFID tags are small devices that are attached to objects that need to be tracked. RFID tags can be active or passive. Active RFID tags have their own power source, while passive RFID tags receive power from an RFID reader.
RFID readers: RFID readers are devices that read data from RFID tags. RFID readers can be stationary or portable.
IO-Link Master: The IO-Link Master is a device used to connect RFID readers to an industrial network.
