To provide truly effective solutions to identification problems, more than one type of technology must be used. With SICK, you can choose three: RFID, laser barcode scanners, and image-based code readers. Today we will take a closer look at Sick's industrial identification products.
Sick Identification Solutions Product Line
Let's take a closer look at what Sick identification solutions the company offers in its line.
Image-based code readers
Such devices provide a flexible reading of various types of codes, such as 2D and matrix data, in 360°. Readers also use code analytics in the device to monitor code quality and optimize processes. The products perform image analysis that follows the storage of images of identified objects and reads, analyzes, and evaluates severely corrupted codes using corrective image processing algorithms.
Sick introduces the following image-based code reader models:
1. Lector64x/65x
- The large field of view and excellent depth of field provides very flexible code position, object height, and transport speed.
- Intelligent decoding algorithms for high packet throughput even with difficult-to-read codes, maximizing read performance.
- With 4Dpro, you can quickly and easily integrate multiple industrial networks.
2. Lecturer62x
- High-performance intelligent decoding algorithms even for highly reflective or dirty codes.
- Faster and more economical commissioning is made possible by the automatic setup wizard.
- By backing up settings to a MicroSD card, downtime when changing devices is kept to a minimum.
3. Lector61x
- The small design, adjustable reading distance and reading codes on various material colors make this device flexible to use.
- Improved performance: code reading is possible even with poor-quality coding or glossy surfaces.
- Built-in magnifying optics for mini codes on small components and integrated distance measurement are already on the industrial scene.
Fixed mount barcode scanners
These identification solutions enable reading barcodes at different distances and with different sizes of objects with a single device due to the large depth of field. A single device also covers a wide reading area thanks to its large aperture angle. And exceptional ambient light stability ensures high reading stability even under varying ambient light conditions.
Sick offers such fixed mount barcode scanners:
1. CLV60x
- Integration into even the smallest machines with minimal space requirements.
- Economic performance at a high level.
- RS-232 or USB interface, easy connection to control system or industrial PC.
2. CLV63x
- Advanced SMART technology reads partially closed and corrupted codes, increasing reading speed.
- Even at very high pipeline speeds, real-time code identification.
- Increased scan reliability with powerful computers and frequent scans.
3. CLV69x
- Using the SMART+ algorithm allows you to quickly read damaged, heavily soiled, and partially damaged barcodes.
- The commissioning time can be reduced thanks to the built-in push buttons and bar graph.
- Integrated monitoring allows standard applications to be implemented without the need for a separate system controller.
RFID
Since visual contact with the RFID tag is not required, hidden or contaminated objects can be reliably identified. Also, these industrial identification solutions make it possible to recognize large objects with an indefinite tag position due to large reading distances and reading field widths. Encrypted data transmission provides a high level of anti-counterfeiting and data security.
Here are the devices Sick offers:
1. RFU63x
- External antenna for extended detection range at an affordable price.
- Simple configuration using SOPAS ET or the embedded web server reduces commissioning time and costs.
- Due to the intelligent process logic of the device, the control requires minimal programming.
2. RFH5xx
- Available in a variety of designs and sizes to provide greater flexibility for installation in systems and machines.
- Thanks to IO-Link, integration into various control systems becomes simple and flexible.
- Installation is simple and quick as only a few parameter settings are required.
3. RFU62x
- Very high process stability because the characteristics of the optimally tuned antenna prevent unread data.
- With SICK AppSpace you get maximum flexibility in the development of individual software solutions.
- Even in harsh industrial environments, the rugged construction ensures reliable performance.
Mobile handheld scanners
Such devices can scan a wide range of code types (including barcodes and 2D codes such as data matrix codes) and read the code in 360°. The reading distance of mobile handheld scanners is up to 16m for faster code scanning and therefore increased productivity. And with the fieldbus module, mobile handheld scanners and external devices can also be integrated into our customers' machine and plant control systems.
Here are the devices Sick provides:
1. IDM16x
- Increased productivity through fast and accurate identification.
- A high degree of mobility and flexibility in both wired and wireless versions.
- Easy integration into industrial networks and commonly used wired or wireless PC interfaces.
2. Zx36
- Detects codes regardless of their size, resolution, surface, or contrast using intelligent decoding algorithms.
- With an intelligent backlight system, it can detect codes on a variety of surfaces, including reflective, uneven, and curved.
- Demanding DPM codes can be applied for example by spot processing, laser marking, chemical etching, or thermal coating.
3. IDM24x
- Several 1D, 2D, and multilevel codes can be recognized by one device.
- Barcodes can be quickly and accurately identified, even if poorly printed, eliminating the need for manual data entry.
- Wireless technology guarantees mobility in all contexts.
