6ES7215-1AG40-0XB0 is a member of the new family of Siemens microcontrollers for a wide variety of low-level automation tasks. These controllers are modular and versatile. They are able to work in real time, can be used to build relatively simple nodes of local automation or nodes of complex automatic control systems that support intensive communication data exchange via Industrial Ethernet / PROFINET networks, as well as PtP (Point-to-Point) connections.
S7 1200 1215c programmable controllers have compact IP20 plastic housings, can be mounted on a standard 35 mm DIN rail or on a mounting plate, and operate in a temperature range from 0 to +50 °C.

They are capable of servicing from 10 to 284 discrete and from 2 to 51 analog I/O channels. With the same I/O configurations as the S7-200, the S7-1200 controller takes up 35% less installation volume.

Communication modules (CM) can be connected to the central processing unit (CPU) of the S7-1200 programmable controller; signal modules (SM) and signal boards (SB) for input/output of digital and analog signals. Together with them, a 4-channel Industrial Ethernet switch (CSM 1277) and a power supply module (PM 1207) are used.
