IFM Electronic pulse evaluation systems for: ✓ Speed ✓ Level ✓ Slip ✓ Direction monitoring ➦ Buy from €270.00 Check for discounts!

IFM Electronic has been developing and manufacturing sensors such evaluation systems as rotary speed, sliding speed, and rotation direction sensors for industrial applications for many years.

Today, electronic pulse evaluation systems of the IFM line are used by renowned manufacturers (worldwide) to accurately and reliably alert them to excessive rotor speeds and to activate the necessary blade adjustments. Let's find out what pulse evaluation systems are and how they work.

What is the IFM Pulse evaluation systems?

Pulse monitoring systems monitor rotational and linear movements as well as all physical quantities that can be converted into pulse sequences. Devices with different functions allow individual monitoring of low and high rotational speeds as well as complex synchronous control or directional control. Relay or transistor outputs provide a signal if the actual value is above or below a set limit value. Compact units with integrated sensors are a low-cost alternative to DIN-rail units.

What is the function of IFM Pulse evaluation systems?

IFM Digital Pulse evaluation systems are available in a wide range including:

  • 1-Channel Speed Monitors. Single-channel speed monitors are used to monitoring frequency, speed, and speed. Programmable toggle outputs reliably signal over or under setpoints.
  • 2-Channel Speed Monitors. The dual-channel speed monitor is used to monitor frequency, rpm and speed. The device monitors two rotaries, linear or oscillating movements independently of each other.
  • Safe speed monitoring. Speed monitors are designed to safely monitor maximum speed. Typical applications include carousels or centrifuges.
  • Safe monitoring of the resting state. The DA monitor is a pulse evaluation system for the safe detection of reduced speed or stop. It receives pulses from sensors connected to the inputs as pulse sensors and calculates the frequency.
  • Safe under-speed monitoring. The DU series speed monitor is needed to safely monitor down speed. It receives pulses from sensors connected to the inputs as pulse sensors and calculates the frequency.
  • Slip monitors. The slip monitor calculates the percentage speed difference and switches as soon as the limit value is reached. The signal can be used to shut down the unit to prevent wear or damage caused by friction heat.
  • Synchronous monitors. Synchronous monitors compare pulse sequences generated by sensors. As soon as the rotation speeds of the two drives differ, the synchronous monitor switches over.
  • Directional monitors. Directional monitors determine the direction of shaft rotation using offset pulses. For example, they are used to ensure that a screw conveyor moves only in a given direction. This prevents blockages, production downtime, and damage to the system.
  • Industrial timers. Multifunction displays are used to display and evaluate pulse sequences. Using the programmable scaling factor, you can calculate and specify the speed, quantity, or processing time based on the frequency of incoming pulses.
  • Time relay. The time relay receives signals from an external sensor and switches its outputs according to the adjustable input and output delays. Optionally, the ON delay and/or the OFF delay, the ON pulse, and the OFF pulse can be set with a selector switch.
  • Position and event counters. The multifunctional display is used to count events and pulses in various industrial automation processes. The device receives pulses from encoders and sensors, e.g. for counting crates on a conveyor or gear wheel pulses.
  • Level monitoring. The evaluation unit for level monitoring monitors levels in tanks and vessels to prevent overfilling, dry running, or leakage. The unit receives signals from an external sensor and switches its outputs according to the adjustable input and output delays.
